2024 Annual International Representational Exhibition - Federation Gallery Vancouver Sign

My Journey into the 2024 International Representational Exhibition

As an artist, some moments define your journey, moments that validate the countless hours of dedication and passion poured into each brushstroke. One such moment recently graced my artistic path, filling me with exhilaration and pride. It is with great joy that I share the news: my original oil painting, "Promise of a New Day," has been selected for the prestigious 2024 International Representational Exhibition at the Federation Gallery in Vancouver.

The journey to this exhibition has been profound, marked by dedication, perseverance, and a deep love for the craft of painting. "Promise of a New Day" holds a special place in my heart, encapsulating a sense of hope, renewal, and beauty in embracing each new dawn. From the moment I experienced this beautiful sunset and the idea germinated in my mind to the final brushstroke that brought the scene and emotions to life on canvas, this painting has been a labour of love.

Like many of us, I've discovered that by decluttering my environment and sifting through the clutter of contemporary life, I can find beauty and meaning in the things that matter. My inspiration frequently arises from the most unlikely places, like this clear January afternoon when I strolled down a peaceful country lane with my husband and devoted dogs after a difficult day where melancholy fell heavy on my shoulders. As I made my way back, I noticed that the sun was lowering on the horizon, illuminating the vast Canadian grassland with a warm, orange tone. The promise of rebirth that each sunset brings with it captured my attention. I felt a deep hope and possibility for the days ahead during those brief minutes of peace among nature's magnificent display.

Creating "Promise of a New Day" was not merely about technique or skill; it was about capturing a moment in time, infusing it with emotion, and inviting viewers to immerse themselves in its narrative. Through layers of colour, texture, and light, I sought to convey the promise inherent in every sunrise – a promise of fresh beginnings, endless possibilities, and the unwavering resilience of the human spirit.
