As dusk settles over the prairie, Grace of Nightfall captures a quiet, intimate moment: four horses standing together, preparing for the long, cool night ahead. The landscape is layered in rich autumn tones—earthy browns, muted greens, and golden remnants of harvested crops—each brushstroke suggesting the textured rhythm of the land.
The sky is aglow with the last light of day, soft and luminous, with gentle clouds drifting beneath the weight of darker, snow-laden ones approaching from the horizon. Subtle touches of cold wax highlight the contours of the nearest horses, catching the fading light -a nod to their quiet strength and presence.

This piece was inspired by my photograph taken on a late fall day when the light was fading and an early snow was moving in. These four backlit horses on a nearby backroad were hunkering down for the cool storm ahead, while the beautiful remnants of the last warm fall day came to an end.
